DURABOARD
A rigid, high temperature 1" thick board that can be used in place of a ceramic kiln shelf. It withstands temperatures up to 2300°F (1260°C). Duraboard cuts easily, making it handy for fitting kiln interiors or for a custom drop-out mold. Cut into any shape you need and can be filed with a nail file for creating soft edges. It contains an organic binder which burns off from 350-1000°F. No shelf primer is required if used at slumping or painting temperatures under 1200°F. Can be made more permanent by coating both sides with rigidizer.
