- Custom make your own frames with Northern Hardwood's solid oak framing stock. Sold in 6 foot lengths, the framing stock has a 5/16" wide groove to allow for the edge of your panel to have either zinc or lead came around the periphary. Available in 3 widths; 1", 1 3/8" and 2".
Mitre the ends of the framing stock and screw together with brass screws. Some craftspeople also like to add glue to the joints for a sturdier frame. Be sure to leave one side un-glued just in case you need to remove the panel for a repair. If your stained glass panel has measurements of even whole numbers (ie: 16", 20", 26") check our convenient pre-cut, pre-mitred framing stock.
Framing stock is sold in 6 foot lengths and there is a $9.00 handling charge when shipped in 6 foot lengths. We can also make one cut to make them smaller upon request to make the shipping charges less expensive. Shipping charges are determined by weight and destination. There is a 20% discount when ordering 48 feet or more of one size.
Use this formula for figuring how much to add to your panel's measurements to allow for the mitres.

- Add 1 5/16" when using 1" framing stock.
- Add 2 1/16" when using 1 3/8" framing stock.
- Add 3 5/16" when using 2" framing stock.
