JEWELRY FUSING CLASS
NEXT AVAILABLE CLASS - Starts July 19th.
The dates of the 3 classes are as follows; July 19th, August 2nd & 9th.
July 19th - On the first night of the jewelry class the participants will be working on 3 pieces of jewelry. On two of the pieces, we will be using techniques such as reverse etching of dichroic glass and a technique that uses a product called Perfect Medium along with metallic mica powder to create a textured metallic surface. Those two techniques and small puzzle sized pieces of dichroic will be used to create two pendants. The third piece of jewelry will be created with a "cloisonne" technique using fine silver wire to form graphic shapes on a layer of crystal clear glass. The following week, the graphic shapes will be filled with mica powder or enamels and then that layer will be fused on top of a layer of dichroic glass.
August 2nd - The second session of our jewelry class will be devoted to glass kiln casting. We will be using dichroic frit, frit powders, mica powders and frit molds to create an 11 piece glass bracelet and a larger embossed cabochon. In this session there will also be a demonstration on how to make a bent glass bracelet using the large cabochon as an accent piece.
August 9th - In this session we will be assembling the 11 piece glass bracelet and then wire wrapping the cabochons created in the previous sessions. We will also be teaching how to create grooves in the cabochons to facilitate the wire wrapping.
